Candidates must possess at least one of the following AND a High School Diploma/equivalent:

• Bachelor's or associate degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience inspecting construction work in the city of NY, varied in size and complexity.
• A minimum of 1 year in inspection or testing of soils for building.
• Familiarity with Chapter 17 of the NYC building code.
• Current training in:
  • Fall protection
  • Scaffolding and ladders
  • Work-zone safety
  • Minimum of 10-hour OSHA construction safety
• Currently holds a valid certification in one or more of the following:
  • ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector

Responsibilities

• Report non-conforming issues (NCR's) to the contractor and client immediately.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports daily.
• Move around jobsites, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to assess necessary testing materials, equipment, and personnel.
• Use necessary PPE such as gloves, boots, hardhats, and ear protection while on jobsites.
• Ability to analyze special inspection test data, pile elevation, driving logs etc. to ensure compliance with NYC building code/project specifications.
• Monitoring construction operations, using and/or witnessing applicable field-testing procedures to perform required field inspections and testing, as well as all related testing as required by the project and client to determine compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Preparation of daily field reports, communication deficiencies observed in the field to project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives, and the interpretation of project-related drawings and documents, as well as all other duties as assigned.
